Know Your

Women’s Shoe Size

There is roughly a 1.5-size difference between men’s and women’s shoe sizes. For example, a men’s size 10 is equivalent to 11.5 women’s. Refer to the chart below to find your women’s shoe size.

History

Did you know that shoe sizes were originally measured in barleycorn? The average foot was approximately 39 barleycorn in length. Eventually, King Edwards decreed that three barleycorns were equal to an inch. Therefore, 39 barleycorn became 13 inches, or size 13. This is known as traditional English size.

The English prefer to begin counting from zero. For example, the first floor of a building is considered floor number zero. Americans, being less skilled at mathematics and counting, have a tendency to begin counting from 1. Therefore, US shoes sizes run one size larger than their English counterparts.

How To Pick

Shoe Colors

Black – Don’t know what color to get? You can’t go wrong with black, it’s the most versatile color!
Neutral – If you already have plenty of black shoes, consider neutral colors. They’re the most versatile option after black. Neutral colors look natural with a wide variety of outfits.

Nude – Because it matches your skin tone, nude shoes create the illusion of longer, sexier legs. Wear them with bare legs or nude stockings, and a short skirt or dress!

Bold – Pick bold colors (ie red, pink, blue) to complement specific outfits. These aren’t general-purpose colors but the right shoes can make your favorite outfit pop!
