Mama’s Makin’ Bacon Drag Brunch and Fundraiser – Sacramento
Mama’s Makin’ Bacon is an annual drag brunch and fundraiser for the Sacramento LGBT Center. This single event raised more than $24,000 for local LGBTQ+ programs, including housing for LGBTQ+ youth. Judi and I go every year and we’ve never been disappointed.

The Menu
Show up with an empty stomach! This years menu included scrambled eggs, egg casserole, sausage, bacon (vegan options too), fruit, and pastries. Of course, there are also flowing mimosas and cocktails.
What to wear to Mama’s Makin’ Bacon
This drag brunch has a unique theme each year, so feel free to come in costume! This year’s theme was “nautical” but as a licensed pilot, I decided to dress “aeronautical” instead. I wore a sexy pilot bodysuit. This outfit really showed off my DressTech silicone hip pads, which I wore under two pairs of opaque dance tights.
Drag Brunch Talent
Mama’s Makin’ Bacon talent included Taryn Thru-U, Betty Booger, CeCe Williams, Ben Flicker, Sir Vix, Mae Moua, and DoMe Moore. This years lineup was similar to the previous year, but they added more drag kings.
Cost
Tickets cost $75. You can get VIP seating along the main runway for a little extra, but the performers did a great job of working the whole room.
Location
This event is held at The Grand on J-street in Sacramento. It’s not the greatest neighborhood and I wasn’t 100% comfortable strutting around in my 4″ heels and bodysuit. In fact, we did get cat-called. I recommend going with a friend for safety and comfort. On the plus side, there’s a parking garage just around the corner. If you have a taller vehicle like me, you’ll want to head to City Hall Garage on 11th.
